Menu in content was created by MichielStr
I would like to set up a home page, showing two levels of categories. For example
Since I do not have the mod_datamenu datasets to my availability, such as $dataitems, I do not know where to start. Could someone get me started?

not sure what you are aiming at.
you can include (any) module in content using joomla loadposition.
In the mod_datamenu you set 'default_id' see affiliatefeeds.nl/articles/10-moddatamenu/20-mod-datamenu.html

I want to have a menu like those on the main pages of the Vergelijk and Kieskeurig sites. On Kieskeurig's main page, on the right a little down you see blocks of categories with sub categories, each with a picture. That is what I am trying to accomplish.
In Joomla terms (if I am not mistaken): I want to have a menu in an article.

Then the answer above is correct, joomla's loadposition

OK. So I create a mod_datamenu module, getting the required data and then, instead of showing the module in the left menu, show it in an article using loadposition? I will give that a try.

OK, so I managed to get the menu I wanted.
However, I want to display this menu on the home page. Problem is, that the home page is also the destination (default_id) for other modules, such as 'Zoeken/Search' and 'Navigation' (which I want to show on the home page as well).
So I cannot change the home page to single page layout. If I do, also the newly created menu module can no longer convert URL's to SEF URL's...
Do you have any ideas how to solve this?
